7.1 Name

The name stub ‘Media’ is a generic name for everything which has something to do with newspapers, magazines, books, TV.

7.2. A Volksmeme?

Is ‘Media’ expanding into a Volksmeme similar to hi-tech, amd film which resulted in new meme names such as Silicon Valley / Silicon Slopes, Hollywood / Bollywood?

Media is about informing people, communicating, dialog, spreading concepts, thoughts, ideas.

The word ‘Media’ is ‘langweilig’ and long to speak, however that didn’t stop the word ‘Silicon’ from getting established.

Perhaps we have to invent one for the future i.e. GuteValley? (from Gutenberg - Difficult in English). ‘Lite’ from ‘illumination’ -> SilvaLite. Other word possibilities: Alpha, Font, Stream, Ink, Type

The rationale for the Line Silva°Media are many:

  • The Media sector in Silva is large with worldwide presence.
  • It crosses several ValuSectors.
  • 99.9% of Silvaner probably consume it every day.
  • It influences how we think.
  • Silva has had a strong media industry since a century.
  • A catalog - or the presentation of what is available - can help support networking, common projects, upmarketing, upselling, cross-selling.
  • A dedicated Line - as a handle - supports cross-pollination activities with other Lines.
  • A ‘State-of-the-Nation’ Report can be benficial for involved parties (incl. politics) in detecting what needs to be done, improved, etc.
  • The focus on the varous Media sectors creates an awareness which can support the discovery or development of new products, services or talent.
  • It might be that the Federal States already have their own catalogs of the Media Ecosystem for their own areas. This Line can be used as a handle to pool them together for the Silva area.
